A Renewables Strategy going forward
We are liaising with B&NES to develop a stratetgy for review and progress of options and taking into account the unique biodiversty environment in our two parishes. This includes factoring guidance from English Heritage and COANB and other relevant guides. This will be an integrated environmental approach.

English Heritage guides
English Heritage has developed a position statement on microgeneration
This is aimed at property owners and local planning authorities. This helps them determine whether the installation of equipment is likely to be acceptable in relation to the historic environment. The document provides building owners with guidance on the issues they need to consider when thinking about installing microgeneration equipment, before they have met a manufacturer/installer and had a system designed for their property.
By helping owners and local planning authorities come to a balanced view on the acceptability of proposals, English Heritage will help to ensure minimal long term damage to the historic environment.

Local Energy Intiatives
B&NES has a formal Cooperation Agreement with BWCE, since they are unique in our area, being a not-for-profit organisation set up by local energy experts. BWCE keeps the majority of the economic benefits of renewable energy local, through a local share-ownership model and the reinvestment of a portion of its revenues into a recycling fund for further energy measures. They work with the full range of technologies; starting with solar and now also looking to develop hydro (two projects in the pipeline) wind and biomass. BWCE is working with Frome Town Council to develop a renewable energy plan and are interested in working with other communities on energy plans with a view to helping to set up local offshoots of BWCE to install renewable energy and enable local governance of revenues.
Transition Keynsham Energy Group
This group produced a high - level energy plan looking at efficiency and renewables.
